Kathy Karas
Artist Profile
Kathy Karas is an Australian artist living at Tullimbar, Shellharbour NSW.
She has painted for most of her life and is a practicing exhibiting artist for over 30 years.
Painting in all mediums Kathy is inspired by nature from the rainforests near where she lives to the waterways and coastal areas. She enjoys painting in an impressionist style a wide subject matter from landscape and seascape to still life and portraiture.
Kathy has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions within Australia, Art Basel Vienna and Urbano Aquarello Exhibition in Italy Atwice finalist in the Meroogal art prize. Finalist James Kiwi art prize, Wollongong Art Gallery Amember of Kiama Art Society, Shoalhaven Art Society and Australian Society of Marine Artists Amember of a group of artists, The Plein Air Girls painting at coastal and rural locations in NSW.
Kathy has been an art teacher within the Illawarra region teaching and demonstrating at The Kiama Art Society, Shellharbour and Berry She has held art retreats to Jervis Bay and Kangaroo Valley Taken art tours with her students and followers to Europe sketch booking in Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Publications include Australian Artist Magazine and local news papers. Interviewed on ABC radio and VoxFM Her mantra is “paint with heart and soul for that is when the magic happens”
