Artist profile

Cheryl is an emerging artist who lives locally in the Shellharbour LGA.

Cheryl rediscovered her love of art in 2016 after being encouraged to attend an intuitive art class where she learnt to ‘go with the flow’ and unlock her creative abilities again.
Since then, Cheryl has encouraged other artists to teach her to hone her skills and works intuitively with her hands, brushes, textured paste, acrylics and flow paints.
Not formally trained, she has been on a journey of self-discovery to embrace many styles.

“I work intuitively to create my artworks. I believe that we have so much hidden talent, so much creativity, so much to express, that creating art becomes a meditative process for me. I rarely know what I will create in advance, I just go with the flow and let the artwork transpire onto the canvas. My reason for painting is to return to that gentle, childlike moment to moment experience and sense of wonder that the world needs more of.”

My work is a culmination of many years of learning, growing and developing my art style. Moving more towards working with my hands intuitively and working with mixed media.
