Johnni Jordison always wanted to be an artist when she grew up. In the final years of her professional career, which spanned over 40 years, Johnni embarked on fulfilling her dream by studying and completing a Diploma of Visual Arts at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
The focus of her work reflects Johnni’s experience of growing up in Australia and her enduring love of the great outdoors nurtured from years spent emerged in the environment on family outings and camping holidays.
.Johnni is passionate about capturing the character and intrinsic beauty of the natural environment and sharing the experience with others. The style of her work ranges from representational through to impressionistic. She uses texture and colour to capture the beauty and character of the subject whether it be a landscape, a family pet or the home.
She works in various mediums and has exhibited at the Queanbeyan Art Society, the Jugiong Art Exhibition, Boorowa Art Exhibition, Strathnairn Arts, and the Belconnen Art Centre. She has completed various commissioned works in both acrylic paint and handbuilt pottery.
A highlight of Johnni’s artistic journey has been being awarded the Overall Champion at the 2025 Canberra shown for her pen and ink drawing. Another key milestone in her artistic journey has been her recent move to the Illawarra which has a vibrant natural environment and arts community which will provide more inspiration and subject matter.
