Artist Profile

Born in Zimbabwe in 1969, I loved art from an early age, enjoying figure drawing and portraits in particular – which seemed to come quite naturally to me.

Later, in my late twenties I started to learn oil painting concentrating at first on figure studies with strong narratives, then flowers and now finally something very close to my heart – native Australian birds.
Aside from promoting my work regularly on social media like Facebook and Instagram, It has also been enjoyable to participate in group exhibitions such as Portland (Lithgow), Scarborough, Thirroul, Wollongong, Shellharbour Village, Stockland Mall Shellharbour, Pyree, Nowra, Berry and Goulburn.
In 2023 I exhibited with 3 other artists at the Gang Gang Art Gallery in Lithgow which has helped me reach a wider audience of lovers of Native Australian bird paintings.

Mainly self-taught, I love painting subjects that touch my heart. The native birds are a joy to paint searching out their lively characters, distinctive habits as well as the beautiful vibrant colours of such diversified varieties.
I try to work at strong draughtsmanship with a fluid, style capturing the colour and habitats of our stunning and fascinating birdlife.
“My chosen subject matter evokes the charm, colour and excitement I find in nature and which brings the joy that enriches my life, and hope it does yours.”
